Man charged with murder - Great Hollands, Bracknell

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with murder.

Aleksandrs Vasiljevs, aged 24, was stabbed at his home in Appledore, Great Hollands on Friday, 20 September 2013, and died soon after in the early hours of Saturday, 21 September 2013.

Ivan Svatovskij, aged 31, of Appledore, Great Hollands was charged with murder last night, Thursday, 03 October 2013.

Baljit Ubhey OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Ivan Svatovskij.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Ivan Svatovskij with murder.

"The charges are in relation to the murder of 24-year-old Aleksandrs Vasiljevs at his home in Great Holland, Bracknell on 20/21 September.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Svatovskij was remanded in custody to appear at Slough Magistrates' Court this morning, Friday, 04 October 2013.
