Man charged with murder - Crowthorne

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with the murder of a woman in Crowthorne.

Michael Rough, aged 55, of Ellis Road, Crowthorne, was charged last night, Tuesday, 11 October 2016, with murder.

The charge is in connection with the death of 53-year-old Jaqueline 'Jackie' Pattenden, who was found deceased inside a property in Ellis Road, Crowthorne, on Sunday, 02 October 2016.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Michael Rough.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Michael Rough with murder.

"The charge is in connection with the death of 53-year-old Jaqueline 'Jackie' Pattenden, who was found deceased inside a property in Ellis Road, Crowthorne, on Sunday, 02 October 2016.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Rough was remanded in police custody to appear at Reading Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday, 12 October 2016.
