Man charged with man's murder - Bedford

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Bedfordshire Police to charge a man with murder.

Ian Brunner, aged 47, of Byron Crescent, Bedford, was charged last night, Tuesday, 27 January 2015, with murder.

The charge is in relation to the death of 39-year-old John-Mark Duffy in Byron Crescent, Bedford on Monday, 26 January 2015.  A post-mortem concluded that he died of a stab wound to the chest.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Bedfordshire Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Ian Brunner.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Bedfordshire Police to charge the man with murder.

"The charge is in relation to the death of a man in Bedford on 26 January 2015.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Mr Brunner has been remanded in police custody to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday, 28 January 2015.
