Man charged with kidnap - Slough

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with the kidnap of a woman in Slough.

Neeraj Sharma, aged 34, of Stowe Road in Slough was charged this morning, Tuesday, 01 March 2016, with kidnap.

The charge is in connection with an incident, which occurred in Burnham Lane, Slough at about 9.30am yesterday morning, Monday, 29 February 2016, where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly accosted, grabbed and pushed down an alleyway towards the park.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Neeraj Sharma.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Neeraj Sharma with kidnap.

"The charge is in connection with an incident, which occurred in Burnham Lane, Slough at about 9.30am yesterday morning, Monday, 29 February 2016, where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly accosted, grabbed and pushed down an alleyway towards the park.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Sharma has been remanded in police custody to appear at Slough Magistrates' Court later today, Tuesday, 01 March 2016.

Criminal proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no commentary or reporting which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.
