Man charged with four sex offences - Oxfordshire
Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with four sex offences.
Tilal Mahdi, aged 35, from Friars Street, Hereford, was last night, Monday, 18 November 2013, charged with the following:
- Conspiracy to rape a girl aged 13, 14 or 15 years of age.
- Conspiracy to engage in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 (offender aged 18 years or over).
- Trafficking persons within the UK for sexual exploitation.
- Arrange to facilitate prostitution/involvement in pornography of a child aged 13 to 17 years.
Ruth Bowskill, Temporary Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Tilal Mahdi.
"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge the man with four sex offences.
"The charges relate to incidents, which took place in Oxfordshire and elsewhere in the UK between July 2005 and 2008.
"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."
Mahdi was remanded in police custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday, 19 November 2013.
