Man charged with child abduction - Slough

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with child abduction.

Mohammed Choudhry,  aged 57,  of Rotterdam in the Netherlands,  has been charged with abducting two children under the age of 16 in April 1998 from Slough and taking them outside of the UK without appropriate consent.

Adrian Foster,  Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said:  "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police,  a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Mohammed Choudhry.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence,  Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge the man with child abduction.

"The charges are in connection with the abduction of two children from Slough in April 1998.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Choudhry appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday,  10 April 2014,  and has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday,  28 April 2014.
