Man charged with Carnegie Gardens murder - Luton

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit to charge a man with murder.

Sameer Babar, aged 35, of Carnegie Gardens, Luton, has been charged in connection with the murder of 67-year-old Leonard Flower.

Mr Flower died at his home address in Carnegie Gardens, Luton on Tuesday, 22 October.

Ruth Bowskill, Temporary Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Sameer Babar.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit to charge Sameer Babar with murder.

"The charges are in relation to the death of 67-year-old Leonard Flower in Carnegie Gardens, Luton on 22 October.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Babar has been remanded in police custody to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court today, Friday, 25 October 2013.
