Man charged following stabbing - Aylesbury

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with attempted murder.

David Clarke, aged 63, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted murder after a man sustained a stab wound at the Babs Food & Wine store in Buckingham Street, Aylesbury on Monday, 08 September 2014.

The victim remains in a critical condition at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against David Clarke.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge the man with attempted murder.

"The charge relates to an incident where a man sustained a stab wound at the Babs Food & Wine store in Buckingham Street, Aylesbury on Monday.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Clarke has been remanded in police custody to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday, 10 September 2014.
