Man charged with murder - Calcot, Reading

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge a man with the murder of a woman in Calcot, Reading.

Steven Grainger, aged 32, of Hatford Road, Reading was charged last night, Tuesday, 7 November 2017, with murder.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Steven Grainger.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Steven Grainger with murder.

"The charges are in connection with an incident, which occurred in Windsor Way, Calcot on Saturday, 4 November 2017, where a 30-year-old woman was found at a property, by the ambulance service, with serious head injuries. She, sadly, died shortly afterwards.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Steven Grainger was remanded in police custody to appear at Reading Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday, 8 November 2017.
