Lorry driver charged in connection with fatal collision on M25


A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal collision on the M25 on the evening of 1 September.

Marius Marcel Batu, of Tinis, Romania, has been charged with one count of causing death by careless driving, on the advice of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Batu was driving a Mercedes articulated lorry which was in collision with a green Honda Civic, between junctions 15 and 16 northbound, at about 9pm.

Audrey Dawson, 71, from Middlesex, who was a passenger in the car, died in the collision after which the car went up the embankment then rolled over. The driver was taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries.

Batu appeared before High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 3 September, where he was remanded in custody. He is due to appear again at High Wycombe Magistrates' court this Wednesday, 7 September.
