Heroin and cocaine dealer jailed - Hatfield

A drug dealer, who was caught with a bag of heroin and cocaine in Hatfield, was today, Friday, 09 September 2016, jailed for 3 years 4 months.

Tyrone Danso, aged 20, from Dagenham, was a passenger in a car that was stopped in Comet Way at half past eleven at night on 22 May.

Prosecutor Donal Lawler said the police were alerted because the car was not insured. Cannabis was found inside and the two men were taken to the police station. Danso was stripped searched and, in a ball hidden between his buttocks, 38 wraps of cocaine and 27 wraps of heroin were discovered. He also had £100 on him. He made no comment to police questions.

Danso of Miller Terrace, Dagenham was committed for sentence to St Albans Crown Court having pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. He appeared via a video link from Bedford prison. He had a previous conviction for possessing cannabis and in February last year was sentenced to 32-months for wounding. He had been released two months before he was arrested in Hatfield.

Defending, Duncan O'Donnell said Danso had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and did not want to mess the court around. He said he had been stabbed two weeks before he was arrested and had been transporting the drugs because he was in debt. "In order to pay off debt he agreed to take part in offence. He was the stupid one hiding the drugs. He knows he needs to take responsibility for his actions," he said.

Recorder Eason Rajah QC said he gave him full credit for his guilty plea. He ordered the £100 found on Danso to be forfeited.
