Four charged with murder - Kempston

Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Bedfordshire Police to charge four teenagers with the murder of Sharif Demirsay.

Sharif, aged 65, was stabbed to death at his home in Vineyard Way, Kempston, on 14 May 2013.

Those charged are:

  • Courtney Glynn, aged 19, from Kempston
  • A 17-year-old boy from Kempston
  • A 17-year-old boy from Bedford
  • A 15-year-old boy from Bedford.

Baljit Ubhey OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Bedfordshire Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against four teenagers.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Bedfordshire Police to charge the four teenagers with murder.

"The charges are in relation to the murder of Sharif Demirsay at his home in Kempston on 14 May.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

The four teenagers were remanded in custody to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday, 02 October 2013.
