Eight plead guilty to metal theft - Oxford

Eight men appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 10 April 2012, and pleaded guilty to stealing copper cabling worth £15,000.

All eight men are from Oldbury in the West Midlands. Nita Baicu, aged 20, Mirhai Cirstea, aged 22, Vasile Filisan, aged 24, Nicolae Floricel, aged 26, Stefan Preda, aged 28, Vasile Preda, aged 20, and Marian Tanase, aged 21, all from Vicarage Road, and Florin Constantin, aged 22, from Richmond Hill, pleaded guilty to one count of theft of £15,000 of copper cabling from a National Grid site in Blackberry Lane, Blackbird Leys on 01 April 2012.

Seven of the men were remanded in custody. Florin Constanin was released on court bail.

All eight will appear at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, 30 April 2012 for sentencing.
