Burglar jailed - Reading

A 35-year-old man has today, Thursday, 29 November 2012, been jailed for three years after being convicted of a burglary in Reading.

Mark Ward, from Linden Road, Whitley, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court for the burglary, which happened at Capital Point, between 15 and 16 May.

The ground floor flat was attacked after the French doors had been smashed. A bandage containing Ward's blood was found in the flat car park and the roll of bandage where the piece had originated from was found within the flat.

Forensic analysis matched the piece found in the car park with the roll and DNA tests confirmed the blood to be Ward's.

At court, Ward pleaded not guilty and claimed that he was in the area buying drugs. However, he was convicted after a three day trial.
