Burglar jailed - Luton
03/08/2012
Luton man Graham Wise, who broke into two homes while on bail, has been locked up for 30-months today, Friday, 03 August 2012, at Luton Crown Court.
Wise, 33, of Dunstable Road in Luton, pleaded guilty to two offences of burglary.
In the first break in on 15 February this year, Wise forced his way into a four bedroomed house in Heath Close, Luton.
Judge Michael Kay QC was told that £3,500 worth of property was stolen.
Wise, who was with another acting as a lookout, made an untidy search of the house and also included in the haul was a set of car keys to a BMW, which was parked on the drive outside.
The householder reported the break in to the police, but the following night the BMW was stolen.
Today, the court was told how, in forcing entry into the house, Wise cut himself and traces of blood later found inside the property provided a DNA match linking him to the crime.
Judge Kay was told that it was impossible to say who had taken the £32,000 BMW, which has never been recovered.
Wise was already on bail for that matter and after his subsequent arrest he was allowed bail once more.
On 09 June Wise broke into a five bedroom house in The Crossway, Luton. The occupant actually woke in the early hours to hear the sounds of an intruder and the police were called. As officers raced to the scene, they saw the defendant making off and he gave himself up.
The court was told he had 30 previous convictions, including making a bomb hoax.
Judge Kay was told the defendant had a history of drug problems.
