Three sentenced for robberies
10/11/2009
Today at Stoke on Trent Crown Court Paul Birks, Jamie Caddick and Michael Caddick were all jailed for 6 years for two offences of robbery and one of aggravated taking of a vehicle.
Speaking after todays sentence Natalie Carman, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS Staffordshire, said:
"The defendants were responsible for two shocking attacks on local businesses and their staff within the space of a few hours. Following the robbery the defendants burnt out a vehicle to ensue that nothing of evidential value remained and during the both robberies they attempted to conceal their identities by using covering their faces.
As part of the police investigation that resulted CCTV footage of the offenders was recovered from outside Stoke-on-Trent Magistrates Court that helped to reconstruct their movements during the day and identify them. The fact that these images were taken outside a court building, just hours before they embarked on this offending spree, shows their blatant disregard for the Criminal Justice System, but ironically has helped to convict them.
Their willingness to threaten violence whilst armed will have been a cause of great concern to local people and thankfully the terms of imprisonment passed today will remove these violent men from our community for a significant period of time."
