Man guilty of street killing

08/10/2007

Today, at Stafford Crown Court, Terry Dillon, 19, from Stafford was convicted of killing Daniel Davis.

The attack was unprovoked and after an initial conflict in the street Dillon knocked Daniel to the ground and then kicked and stamped on Daniels head as he lay on the ground. Daniel died as a result of these actions.

Speaking after the trial, Nick Burn, Senior Crown Prosecutor said:
Thanks to a thorough and effective investigation by the Major Incident team of Staffordshire Police led by Detective Inspector Ronnie Walker and with the close co-operation of the CPS, a powerful case was presented against Dillon at trial leading to his conviction.

Whilst justice in the sense of a conviction has been achieved Daniels family will continue to suffer the loss of their son who was only 24 years of age when he died as a result of a sudden and violent attack.

The CPS hopes that the conviction and justice that it represents will help the family know that the criminal justice system has done everything it can do and that Daniels killer has been bought to justice.

The thoughts and best wishes from the prosecution team go to Daniels family.
