Men found guilty of execution murder
11/01/2008
Today, following a trial lasting several months, five men have been found guilty of the murder of Kevin Nunes in September 2002.
Adam Joof, 27, from the West Midlands, Michael Osbourne, 28, from Wolverhampton, Owen Crooks 26, also of Wolverhampton, Levi Walker, 28, from Birmingham and Antonio Christie, 28, from the West Midlands were all found guilty by a jury at Leicester Crown Court.
Kevin Nunes, who was 20 years old at the time of his death, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Clive Hall Road, Pattingham, Staffordshire. He was killed in an execution style murder which emanated from a gang dispute.
Speaking after the trial, Mark Sheppard, CPS prosecutor, said: "This is an extreme and very rare case of gang related violence which resulted in the horrific death of Kevin Nunes. We worked closely with Staffordshire Police in building a strong case against the defendants which included gathering evidence from many sources, some even overseas, which has resulted in today's conviction. This type of gang violence is extremely rare in Staffordshire and has no place in society. Today's verdict hopefully will go some way to ensuring justice has been served."
