Husband guilty of murder
16/11/2007
Today, at Stafford Crown Court, Harold Ingram, 63, was found guilty by a jury of murdering his wife in March 2007 and immediately received a life sentence.
Diane Ingram was found dead at her home in Cannock on Tuesday 13 March 2007. She had sustained numerous significant wounds to her head, neck, chest and arms. Following the murder Ingram went on the run for three months and was picked up in Derby City centre on 5 June 2007.
Ingram had split from his wife and was due to pay Diane a divorce settlement of £133,000 the day after her murder on 14 March 2007.
Speaking after the trial, Mark Forster, Unit Head for the Crown Prosecution Service said: It is always very tragic when someone looses their life, particularly when it is centred around acrimonious divorce proceedings.
Ingram carried out a violent attack on his wife Diane in part triggered by the prospect of having to part with a large quantity of money.
Our thoughts are with family and friends of Diane Ingram at this difficult time.
