Tackling crime

The CPS takes all types of crime seriously and assesses each case brought to them by the police in line with the Code for Crown Prosecutors so each is treated fairly.

Some types of crime are heard in special courts to make sure they are handled by a prosecutor who is a specialist in that area. Magistrates, court personnel and police officers who are present at the trial all undergo specialist training to help them deal with these cases in the most effective way.
