Seizing criminals' assets
We're hitting criminals where it hurts them most - their wallets!
Using the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA), we can make sure criminals throughout the South West have their illegal earnings and possessions taken away. This includes confiscating TVs, cars, watches and jewellery and restraining them from selling houses or emptying bank accounts. Following conviction the court can order that all be assets obtained from illegal activity are sold with the money being ploughed back in to fund the fight against crime.
Over the last 2 years we have recouped over £8 million across the South West - £3m in Avon and Somerset; £2.3m in Devon and Cornwall; and £2.8m in Gloucestershire.
