OBE for CPS Crown Advocate

James Ward, a Crown Advocate for CPS South West, was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the New Year's Honours list for services to law and order and to the community.

Commenting on the moment last November when he opened the letter from the Cabinet Office advising him of his nomination, James said: "I was overwhelmed by it, it came out of the blue. I will be told when I am to receive it at Buckingham Palace five weeks beforehand. I am very proud and humbled, especially to think that colleagues, the judiciary, public, police and others played their part in the nomination."

James has been working as a Crown Advocate with CPS South West since 2008 and has handled a number of high profile cases, including many rapes and other sexual offences. He qualified as a Barrister in 2000 and also has a Masters Degree in music from the Birmingham Conservatoire.
