Man charged with hospital stabbing

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has today authorised charge of a 61 year old man in relation to a fatal stabbing in a Gloucestershire hospital.

CPS Senior Crown Prosecutor Andrew Pritchard said: "Having reviewed the evidence I have concluded that it is sufficient and that it is in the public interest to proceed with a prosecution. I have therefore today authorised Gloucestershire police to charge Ryan Matthews with the murder of Sharon Wall on Wednesday 9 July."

Sharon Wall, 53, was stabbed to death at the Wotton Lawn healthcare facility in Gloucester, where she worked as a healthcare assistant.

The media are reminded of the Contempt of Court Act and now Mr Matthews is due to appear in court nothing should be reported that could prejudice any future trial.
