Man charged for fraudulent £500k Help for Heroes charity collection


A Devon man has today been charged with 15 counts of fraud after allegedly concealing over £500,000 donated to charity.

CPS Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Tracy Easton said: "the CPS authorised Devon and Cornwall police to charge Christopher Copeland with 14 counts of fraud against Help for Heroes and one count of fraud against Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Additionally he has been charged under the Proceeds of Crime Act of concealing criminal property, namely over £500,000 which he had fraudulently collected for Help for Heroes."

Christopher Copeland, 51, from Copplestone, near Crediton in Devon, has been bailed to appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court on 8 May.
