Man charged in relation to Bristol woman's death

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has today authorised Avon and Somerset police to charge a man in relation to the death of a 22 year old Bristol woman.

CPS Senior Crown Prosecutor Andrew Pritchard said: "I have today authorised Avon and Somerset police to charge Abdirashad Khadar with the murder of his wife, Amal Khadar Abdid on 26 July.

"Mr Khadar will appear at Bristol Magistrates Court tomorrow where the case will be sent to Bristol Crown court.

"Proceedings are now ongoing and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

Amal Khadar Abdid was found unconscious in her home in Barton Hill, Bristol, by police on 26 July. Although paramedics attended, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
