Former GP charged with murder of GP husband

CPS South West have tonight authorised Devon and Cornwall Constabulary to charge Marion Hughes, 58, from Feock, Cornwall, with murder.

CPS Crown Advocate, Julian Herbert said: "Mrs Hughes was arrested on 19 November on her release from hospital, having been taken there last Friday, 15 November, following the death of her husband Dr Geraint Hughes .

"Having liaised with officers in the case since the incident, and reviewed the evidence in line with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, I have this evening decided that there is sufficient evidence to charge Marion Hughes and that it is in the public interest to do so."

Mrs Hughes will appear before magistrates in Truro on 21 November.
