Former Nurse jailed

Former Torbay nurse, George Anderson 27 appeared at Exeter Crown Court and has today been jailed for 19 years and four months following the rape of a 3 year old child.

George Anderson was employed as a psychiatric nurse at Torbay Hospital at the time he committed the offences in November last year; the abuse was not in any way connected to his work at the hospital and took place in a bedroom at a private house.

Mr Justice Dingemans who sentenced Anderson said “Your actions were inexplicable and of the utmost depravity. Despite the extreme youth of the victim she was aware of what was going on and reported it to her mother and that you had filmed it on your phone. The mother's statement makes it clear there will be a lifelong effect from your offending."

CPS South West, District Crown Prosecutor Alison Longhorn said “The offences committed by George Anderson are extremely disturbing and will have a lifelong impact on the victim and her family. The Crown Prosecution Service worked closely with Devon and Cornwall Police to build a strong case against Anderson.”

George Anderson will be required to sign the sex offenders registers and has also been made subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

Alison added “The overwhelming evidence gathered in this case left Anderson with no choice but to plead guilty.  The length of this sentence reflects the seriousness of the crimes he has committed and I hope it brings some comfort to the family of the child he so seriously abused.”
