Driver jailed for dangerous driving

Yesterday 14th March 2017, at Bristol Crown Court, Clive Hill (42) was found guilty of Dangerous Driving, Driving whilst Disqualified, No Insurance and failing to stop for Police.

On 18th November 2016, Clive Hill was seen driving dangerously with several near misses. The vehicle frequently overtook cars in the face of oncoming traffic, overtook a bus on a left hand bend with no view of oncoming traffic, travelled at excessive speed and left unsafe gaps to other traffic.

A National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter arrived in the area to assist with the pursuit which captured the dangerous driving of Mr Hill.

Mr Hill was sentenced today to a 14 month imprisonment for dangerous driving, disqualified from driving for 3 years with an extension period of 6 months by His Honour Judge Hart.

Prosecutor Alistair Haggerty said “This was a very serious case of dangerous driving in the early afternoon when numerous other drivers were on the road. It is fortunate that nobody was seriously hurt but, on several occasions, high-speed head-on collisions were only very narrowly avoided, and this was only because of the skilful driving of others on the road at the time.”
