CPS authorises charge of two men for murder of Jason Betts

The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Avon and Somerset Police to charge two men with the murder of 38-year-old Jason Betts in Yate, South Gloucestershire.

CPS reviewing lawyer, Andrew Pritchard said: "I have been working with Avon and Somerset police since the death of Jason Betts on 6 March. It has been my responsibility to determine whether the evidence they have gathered so far in the course of their investigation is sufficient to bring any charges.

"Having conducted a thorough review of all evidence currently available I have today concluded that there is sufficient evidence to charge Nixon Apire and Nathan Skeen with the murder of Jason Betts. I have therefore authorised Avon and Somerset police to charge them and they will appear tomorrow at North Avon Magistrates Court.

"Proceedings are now ongoing and the defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
