CPS authorises charge for Hanham tandem deaths

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has today authorised Avon and Somerset Police to charge Nicky Lovell, 38, from Oldland Common, South Gloucestershire, in connection with the deaths of Ross and Clare Simons following an incident in Hanham, South Gloucestershire on Sunday.

CPS Senior Crown Prosecutor Allie Longhorn said: "I have today authorised Avon and Somerset Police to charge Nicky Lovell with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving. I have also authorised charges of driving while disqualified; driving without third party insurance; and driving a vehicle and failing to stop after a road accident.

"Our thoughts are today with the victims families."

Ross and Clare Simons died at the scene after their tandem bicycle was in a collision with a car on Sunday 27 January.

Nicky Lovell will appear at North Avon Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
