19 year old charged with murder of his grandfather, 91

CPS South West has today authorised Devon and Cornwall Constabulary to charge Stephen Francis Lang, 19, of Launceston, Cornwall, with the murder of his 91 year old grandfather, Thomas Lang.

CPS Crown Advocate, Julian Herbert said: "Shortly after Thomas Lang was assaulted, his grandson Stephen Lang was arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, and theft. Thomas Lang subsequently died in hospital. A full investigation by the police into the circumstances of the death has produced further evidence and having reviewed this case in line with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, I have today decided that there is sufficient evidence to charge Stephen Lang with murder and that it is in the public interest to do so".

Stephen Lang is currently in custody at HMP Exeter. He will next appear at Truro Magistrates Court tomorrow and then at Truro Crown Court on 13 June
