A teenager has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment, after being found guilty of the manslaughter of Darren Croxton, who died after being stabbed in Hailsham.

Mr. Croxton was stabbed while he was watching a pre-arranged bare knuckle fight which took place in woods in the town. He was taken first to Eastbourne District General Hospital and then to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for emergency surgery, but he died of his injuries the following day.

The conviction of the 17 year old followed a six week trial at Lewes Crown Court. Stuart Johnson was also on trial, but was found not guilty of murder.

A spokesperson from the CPS South East said: "The victim in this case was a young man, whose life was tragically cut short by knife crime. He came from a very close family and leaves behind a young daughter. We hope today's verdict brings some comfort to Mr. Croxton's family and friends."
