Chief Crown Prosecutor, Roger Coe-Salazar for the CPS South East Area, said: "This was a carefully planned burglary executed by career criminals. They callously left Julian Gardner dying, having crushed him between two vehicles, whilst they made off with his property. Mr Gardner was to pay for his courageous confrontation of them with his life.
"This was a challenging case to prosecute and we utilised cutting edge electronic presentation of evidence software to assist the jury.
"The impact this has had on Mr. Gardner's family and the community has been devastating and the CPS and Sussex Police have been determined to bring those responsible for the death of Julian Gardner to justice, working in highly effective cooperation from the outset.
"These men showed no remorse for their actions but I sincerely hope that their convictions today for this brutal crime bring at least some solace to Mr. Gardner's family. I am pleased that persistence and hard work has resulted in them facing the consequences for the part they played in this cold and brutal crime."
