Man sentenced for child abuse offences
29/10/2010
A man was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court today after pleading guilty to series of sex offences against young girls.
Ian Duncan Mcleod-Maclean admitted carrying out the attacks on the three victims between 1994 and 2007.
Speaking after the sentencing Senior Crown Prosecutor Christine Misson said that the fact that he was systematically abusing children did not matter to him.
She said:
"This mans own desire for sexual gratification was his only consideration and the fact that he was systematically abusing children did not matter to him. His actions have caused great distress and the consequences of his offences will remain for a very long time.
"It was clear from the evidence that he was growing increasingly confident in his actions. He forced one of the children to watch filmed child abuse and encouraged each child to think that his approaches to them were normal behaviour. The defendant tried to ensure their silence by telling them that bad things would happen if they didnt do what he wanted them to do.
"Although the victims have been saved from the trauma of a trial it cannot make up for the mental and physical suffering the victims have endured. They have shown great courage throughout and we would like to thank them for supporting the prosecution."
