Jennifer Taylor CPS Statement
01/10/2009
Head of CPS South East Complex Casework Unit Nigel Pilkington said:
"The police investigation was thorough and left no doubt that Jennifer Taylor killed her son. But separate medical experts engaged by the CPS and by the defence reached the same conclusion that Ms Taylor's responsibility for the killing was impaired by her mental state.
That medical evidence left no realistic prospect of Jennifer Taylor being convicted on a charge of murder. It did however strongly support a charge of manslaughter to which she pleaded guilty."
