CPS authorises charges in relation to an investigation into fraud and misconduct in a public office

The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Kent Police to charge two men in relation to offences of fraud and misconduct in a public office whilst one of the men was a Councillor at Thanet District Council.
Ken Goss, Senior Crown Prosecutor with the CPS South East Complex Casework Unit said:
"I have today advised Kent Police to charge two men in relation to fraud and misconduct in a public office. It is alleged one of the men improperly used privileged Thanet District Council information in relation to the purchase of two properties. This decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."
Maurice Ezekiel is charged with misconduct in a public office and fraud by abuse of position.
Phillip Emmanuel is charged with aiding and abetting fraud by abuse of position.
The defendants will appear at Maidstone Magistrates Court on Thursday 3 May 2012.
