Item 1: Note of last meeting and actions arising
The Board agreed the note of its 17 February meeting, the update on actions arising from previous meetings, and all out-of-committee activity.
Item 2: Director's update
The Director gave an update to the Board on:
HMCPSi reports
The reports on Gwent and London had been published.
Policy
The Code for Crown Prosecutors and the Assisted Suicide Policy had been published. The Stern Report commended the CPS's policy on rape prosecutions, and called for improved compliance across the Service with the policy.
Industrial action
780 PCS members had taken part in recent strike action. Business continuity plans had ensured no significant impact on performance.
Item 3: Scenario planning
Roger Daw presented a paper identifying possible areas for strategy development for the Service.
Item 4: Capability Review implementation
Peter Lewis presented an update on Capability Review implementation including the merging of the PPA and DSP roles. The Board provided comments and observations for the planned consultation with staff and DTUs.
Item 5: Security and Information Management
The Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) Mike Kennedy presented papers on Security and Information Management. The item ensures that the CPS Board has complied with Her Majesty's Government Information Assurance Maturity Model Assessment Framework.
Item 6: HMCPSi report on CPS Gwent
Mike Kennedy presented an update on revised performance arrangements in Gwent.
Item 7: Financial Management
Paul Staff presented the item on financial management. The Board were asked to note the forecast for 2009/10 and the overall satisfactory position against total provision.
Item 9: AOB
Attorney General's Meeting with Non-executive Directors (NEDs)
The AG will be meeting a number of NEDs w/c 22 March to discuss a new strategy. Stephen Redmond will attend for the CPS NEDs.
