The Crown Prosecution Service has written Core Quality Standards. They tell you what we do when we prosecute criminals.
We try to make sure that we do the things written in the Core Quality Standards. The Core Quality Standards tell us how to do our job well.
Core Quality Standards are important because you depend on us to make the right decisions when we charge people with a crime.
This is not a summary of the Core Quality Standards. It is an easy read version.
It uses plain English and pictures to tell you what is written in the Core Quality Standards.

What words mean
- Charge
A charge is made when the Crown Prosecution Service say that they think a person has done a crime and should go to court.
The court will decide if there is enough evidence to show that the person did do the crime.- Core Quality Standards
