Proud to take part in Pride

August Bank Holiday 2016 saw CPS colleagues Elizabeth Turner and David Leighton at the Manchester Pride celebrations. One of the largest Pride events in the country, it starts on the Saturday with a parade which winds its way through Manchester City Centre culminating in an expo of information stands.

Manchester Pride 2016Visitors to the CPS information stand came from all over the country.  There were many questions about hate crime, how to report it and what happens after you report it and the educational resource pack for schools about hate crime developed and published by CPS North West was of particular interest.

In 2015-16 the conviction rate for homophobic and transphobic crime in the North West was 85.6%, up from 79% in 2014/15.
