CPS joins Sparkle Celebrations 2016

CPS has now attended the Sparkle celebrations in Manchester for six years in a row.

Sparkle is a national transgender celebration held in Manchester City centre every year. The event is an excellent opportunity for us to discuss concerns about hate crime with people from the trans community in Manchester.  Attending the event helps CPS staff to have a greater understanding of the experiences of transgender people in relation to hate crime and to share that understanding with other colleagues.

Over 12,000 people joined the event in Manchester's Gay Village this year, and Elizabeth Turner and Natalie Fitzgerald from the CPS spoke to many of them and answered lots of questions about reporting hate crime and about hate crime prosecutions.
