Alan Richardson, reviewing lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said: "The evidence given in court by the sole witness in this case differed from the account he originally gave to the police.

"As a result, I further reviewed the file and decided that it was appropriate to offer no further evidence."
