13/12/2012

The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Lancashire Police to charge Dyson Allen, aged 19, from Blackpool, with four charges of murder in relation to a fatal house fire in Freckleton, Lancashire on 7 January 2012.

Joanne Cunliffe, Crown Advocate for the CPS North West Complex Casework Unit, said:

"Following a detailed investigation by Lancashire Police, I have reviewed the evidence that they have gathered and authorised Lancashire Police to charge Dyson Allen with four counts of murder. The charges are that on 7 January 2012 Dyson Allen murdered Reece Smith, Ella Smith, Holly Smith and Jordan Smith.  He has been remanded in custody until appearing before Blackpool Magistrates' Court on Monday 14th December 2012.

"This decision was made in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors. I have concluded that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that it is in the public interest to charge Dyson Allen."
