Four People Charged With Abuse at Care Home

Four people have today been charged with the abuse of adults at Hillcroft Care Home in Slyne-with-Hest, Lancaster.

Katie Cairns, Carol Moore, Gemma Pearson and Darren Smith will be prosecuted following a long running investigation by Lancashire Police into allegations of mistreatment and abuse between May 2010 and February 2012 at the care home.

Joanne Cunliffe, Crown Advocate for the CPS North West Complex Casework Unit, said:

"I have conducted a thorough review of all of the evidence and I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute these individuals. They have been charged with Carer ill-treat / wilfully neglect a person without capacity and will appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on 3rd January 2013."
