Five Jailed For Burnley Robbery
08/03/2013
Sally Brennand, John Williams, Rebecca Greenough, Zak Ward and David Steer have been sentenced today at Burnley Crown Court to a total of more than 27 years imprisonment for a robbery which took place at a house in Burnley on October 25.
Sophie Lorimer, Senior Crown Prosecutor from CPS North West said:
"This was an extremely violent, pre-planned attack. The gang outnumbered the victim and targeted him when he was alone in his own home.
"Two of the men who carried out the robbery were purported friends of the victim. They arrived unexpectedly at his house and forced their way inside with the rest of the group before deciding to unleash a brutal assault. They proceeded to tie his hands and feet together with computer cable, steal his possessions before taking off in his car, using it as a getaway vehicle.
"The sentences given today reflect the serious nature of this appalling crime. The victim was subjected to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of the defendants and the CPS has worked hard to bring them to justice for their dreadful actions."
Individual Sentences:
Sally Brennand pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 3 years 4 months.
John Williams pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 7 years 4 months.
Rebecca Greenough pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 2 years 10 months.
Zak Ward pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 7 years.
David Steer pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 7 years. He also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking and was sentenced to serve 16 months concurrent.
