CPS Charge Blackpool Tram Driver With Causing Death By Driving Without Due Care And Attention

The Crown Prosecution Service has today notified the police of its decision that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to charge Paul Edensor, a 36 year old tram driver, with causing death by driving without due care and attention.
A tram that he was driving hit a pedestrian, Moreen Foxwell, in Blackpool on 5 August 2009 and she died in hospital on 12 September 2009. A summons has been obtained from Blackpool Magistrates' Court and will now be served on Paul Edensor. He will appear at the Magistrates' Court on 8 July for an initial hearing. Mrs Foxwell's family have been informed of the CPS decision.
