Gang members jailed for over a hundred years

Six men have been sentenced at Manchester Crown Court today to over a hundred years in prison for conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life which was used in four separate shooting incidents in the Greater Manchester area during a six day period in October 2015. The defendants were found guilty after a trial earlier this year.

A 29-year-old man has today been found guilty and sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court to 28 years imprisonment for murdering his partner at a house on Orton Road, Carlisle on 15th September 2016. He was also found guilty of raping her on three occasions between 2013 and 2016.

Two sentenced for their parts in racially aggravated assault and abuse on Manchester tram

A 19 year old man has today been sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment at Manchester City magistrates' court for racially aggravated assault and verbal abuse of a man on a tram, and verbal threats and assault of two other men in the street in Manchester city centre on 28th June 2016. A youth defendant was also given a six month referral order at the youth court yesterday.

A prolific shoplifter from Whitehaven has been handed a four month prison sentence and a five year criminal behaviour order (CBO) at Workington Magistrates Court. The criminal behaviour order (CBO) prevents Karl Schofield, age 47, from entering Shopwatch shops in Egremont and Whitehaven for five years after he has served his prison sentence.

Remi Adams guilty of murder of Kieran McGrath

Remi Adams has today been found guilty of the murder of Kieran McGrath who was shot and killed in Ashton-under-Lyne in Manchester in October 2014. Anthony Henry, Jace Smith and Troy Beckford were also found guilty of murder at an earlier trial and were sentenced to life imprisonment at Liverpool Crown Court in June. Another defendant, Scott Chapman, was found not guilty.

A 37 year old man has been sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court to life imprisonment today for the murder of 30-year-old William Lound, a Salford university student, who was stabbed to death in his student flat in February 2016. He must serve a minimum of 23 years and four months in prison.

Ten men sentenced for child sexual exploitation in Rochdale

Ten men have been sentenced for multiple offences relating to the sexual exploitation of eight victims in the Rochdale area following two trials at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester. Nine of the offenders were sentenced today and one man was sentenced last year after pleading guilty at the start of the first trial. They were sentenced to 127 years in total.
