CPS and Witness Care staff raise cash for Sophie

Staff based at CPS Northumbria baked their way to raising more than £200 for North East youngster Sophie Atay.

One year old Sophie from Washington, Tyne and Wear is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer and requires life saving treatment only available at a hospital in New York. Her mum has been running the appeal to raise the required half a million pounds to send her across the Atlantic.

Her plight has caputed the hearts of the nation with music mogul and X Factor judge Simon Cowell dipping his hand into his own pocket to help the appeal hit its target earlier this week.

This week, CPS and Witness Care staff working at CPS Northumbria's offices in St Ann's Quay donned their pinnies and baked mouthwatering cakes to sell to colleagues. Within a couple of hours, they'd raised more than £200!
