Website launch means new relationship with county's people
12/05/2004
Today, Northamptonshire Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) launched the first local CPS website in the country marking a new era in public engagement.
Members of the public can now access online information about the countys prosecution service and what it is doing to bring the communitys fight against crime to the courts.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Colin Chapman said: "We are the first CPS Area to have an official online home, an important step in our vision to be a modern and accessible prosecution service.
"By logging on people can interactively explore some of the ways in which we are working on their behalf. We, on the other hand, will gain a better understanding of the views and concerns of people in this county through an online dialogue.
"The CPS plays a central role in the Criminal Justice System, but the majority of people will not come into contact with our work. Anyone with a computer and Internet access will now be able to get to know us better."
The site includes the following sections:
- Homepage - includes a message from the Chief Crown Prosecutor.
- About CPS Northamptonshire - leadership, caseload and conviction rates.
- CPS Northamptonshire News - news stories, press releases and a selection of casework results.
- Local Criminal Justice - multi-agency targets and joint working, plus links to other criminal justice agency websites.
- Publications - view and download the Business Plan, Annual Report and policies, such as on cases involving racist and religious crime, homophobic crime and domestic violence.
- Victims and Witnesses -further information to be added shortly which will include details of support available.
- Vacancies - current vacancies and career opportunities.
- Contact us - how people can give their views.
