Welcome to the web site of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in Northamptonshire.

I am delighted to be able to introduce you to the online home of CPS Northamptonshire. This is one of the first local county-based CPS websites and I am pleased that CPS Northamptonshire is showing that it is not only at the forefront of the use of IT in the criminal justice system, but is also using technology to make it more open and accessible to even more people. I hope that this site will give you more information about all aspects of our work.

You have accessed this website at a very exciting and challenging time for the Crown Prosecution Service - a time when the Service is rightly recognised having a growing and more influential role right at the heart of the criminal justice system. In that position, however, it has increasing responsibilities, particularly to victims and witnesses of crime and their families.

The job of the Crown Prosecution Service is to serve our diverse local communities by taking their fight against crime to the Courts. We will prosecute criminals vigorously, robustly and fairly, help to ensure that crime does not pay and by doing so, contribute to reducing crime and the fear of crime and improve public confidence in the criminal justice system. I hope you will take the time to visit the various pages on this site to see for yourself some of the ways in which we in CPS Northamptonshire are going about our work.

I believe that CPS Northamptonshire can be proud of what it has done to achieving justice for the people of the county. I also know that we can do a lot more and assure you that we are not complacent. Change takes times and resources; we must always aim high but have realistic expectations. We will continue to work with our criminal justice partners and with you, the community, to do what is required to achieve justice for everyone and to inspire both your respect and confidence.
