Grace Ononiwu OBEGrace Ononiwu OBE, CCP for Northamptonshire has been appointed as Director of Legal Services for CPS London.

Grace became Northamptonshire's Chief Crown Prosecutor in March 2005, coming straight from her role as District Crown Prosecutor in London.  Grace has spent the last 18 years working in criminal prosecutions during which time she has seen significant changes in the way the service is delivered.

During her time in Northamptonshire, she has led the county's Crown Prosecution Service through some challenging initiatives, including the roll-out of Statutory Charging which produced one of the best results in the country and led and implemented the CJSSS Project with immediate and sustained results.

Until March of this year, Grace was Chair of the National Black Crown Prosecutors Association (NBCPA), which currently has 650 members.  The organisation is designed to help the CPS deliver against its equality and diversity objectives.

Grace achieved an OBE in the Queens New Years Honour list 2008 in recognition of her leadership of CPS Northamptonshire and NBCPA.

In June 2008, Grace was elected Chair of the Northamptonshire Criminal Justice Board, ensuring closer and more effective collaboration between the criminal justice agencies Police, HMCS, Probation Service, Prison Service, Victim Support and the Youth Offending Team. Grace has served as an ambassador of the Service, representing the CPS in a number of different CJS forums and in the community.

In a note to her staff Grace said the hard work, commitment and dedication of all staff have resulted in us being one of the best performing Areas in the country.  I know you will all continue to do your very best to ensure high levels of service are maintained and provided to the communities we aim to serve within Northamptonshire.  I am very proud of what we have achieved and I will always hold fond memories of my time in Northamptonshire.
